It's March Madness!

Where is the year going?

Here are my two monthly pieces, stitched but not finished.

A Bit of March by Lizzie*Kate
Stitched on 16 count Provence aida by Sew it All
with recommended DMC threads
Started 1 February 2017, finished 17 February 2017

March Fairy by Lili of the Valley
Stitched on 16 count Iced Coffee aida by Sew it All
with recommended DMC threads
Started 2 February 2017, finished 27 February 2017

Stitching on other things was a bit limited this month as I spent most of my time finishing Frosty Forest.

Yesterday was opening day for the Needlecraft Haven Autumn meet-up exchange.  Anyone who was at the meet-up was free to enter.  We each wrote down our favourite flower, colour and season on a card, and then the cards were selected randomly.  Each stitcher had to make a needlecase for their partner with the theme of their initial.  This is what I received from my partner, Lindsay...

I can't get it to show up in the photographs but the fabric has a beautiful sparkle to it.  I chose daisies and the colour blue, and my favourite season is spring.

There was also some chocolate included but that has already been started.  Thank you Lindsay, I love everything you chose for me and the needlecase will be well loved.

It's March Madness on the Theme-Tas-Stitch SAL this month but I have no idea what I am going to do!  I want to stitch the two monthly charts from the series I have so far kept up with this year, but I really don't want to end the month with lots of new WIPs!  If anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful

Hope you all enjoy a bit of Spring sunshine this week!

Theme-Tas-Stitch February 2017

It's time for the very first Theme-Tas-Stitch check-in!

Theme-tas-stitch

Theme-Tas-Stitch is the brainchild of Kerry at Ramblings of a Biscornu Addict, check out more information here. There are 11 of us signed up so far, together with our lovely hostess. Each month has a theme and for February the theme was...

Focus Finish February -
Is there a WIP in your stash that you would love to get finished - then focus on a finish in February!
Well I was hoping for a finish in time for today's check-in date, but it hasn't happened. However I'm sure I will have finished this before month end!

Here it was at the end of January, 5 blocks complete, 4 to go...

And here it is now - so close!

Frosty Forest by CCN
Stitched on 32 count pale grey linen
With recommended DMC, GAST, WDW and CC threads
Started 1 February 2014

As you can see I am now stitching the final block on the bottom left hand corner.  I'll be back hopefully before the month end with a finish and some close-up photos to share!

Thank you Kerry for hosting Theme-Tas-Stitch and giving me the kick up the **** I needed to get this project finished!

Until next time

Gifted Gorgeousness February 2017

I have lots of Gifted Gorgeousness to share with you today! Firstly it was my birthday last week and my lovely friend Ingrid of Mii Stitch made me this beautiful pincushion...

It's a freebie La D Da design and is stitched with the most beautiful ThreadworX threads - thank you again Ingrid!

I took part in a Valentine's Day Exchange over at Needlecraft Haven. There was no requirement to stitch anything, instead you had to send a pair of socks with pink/red/hearts theme and threads to match.  I forgot to take a picture of the parcel I sent out, but look at the gorgeous happy socks, threads and a sweet Valentine's card I received from Mary! Thank you again Mary, it was a lovely parcel.

Wednesday nights we meet in the Parlour at Needlecraft Haven and I have a special project that I stitch every Wednesday, which is this Alice chart by Tralala which Ingrid gifted me in March 2015.

I finished Alice! She just needs one more flower in her basket and then I'll be moving on the next motif. I'm really enjoying this one night a week stitching her and it's surprising how quickly she is stitching up.

Head over to Jo's blog to check out all the other Gifted Gorgeousness that's around this month!

Edited to add: I forgot to show you this little Lizzie*Kate pillow I sent to a friend for her birthday! I used a tutorial by The Twisted Stitcher Vonna from her Finishing School and it was so simple, it was like having a teacher right in the room with me!

Until next time

A bit of allsorts

Hello everyone

Here's an update of my January stitching and my plans for February.

I already showed you one finish in my last post, two are for gifts so I can't show those yet, but here are the remaining four!

Firstly I finished this cutie, the February Fairy by Lili of the Valley, here she is ready for Valentine's Day!

Stitched on 16 count Kelp aida from Sew it All
with recommended DMC threads
Started 8 January 2017, finished 13 January 2017

Next up was a Lizzie*Kate monthly chart given to me by Julie at the Autumn 2016 Needlecraft Haven meet-up.  I hope to keep up and finish these by the end of the year.

The next day I finished this Mill Hill kit which I started just before Hallowe'en last year, I would have finished it too but I couldn't find my beading needles!

Witch Way by Mill Hill
Stitched on dark blue perforated paper with included threads
Started 28 October 2016, finished 22 January 2017

And then in the same evening I also finished this gorgeous chart which was a gift from my birthday twin Maggee last year, together with the three WDW flosses I used to stitch it. I loved every stitch of this and just need to find the perfect way to display it.

A Stitcher's Blessing by Erica Michaels
Stitched on 32 count Wolf evenweave by Sew it All
with WDW Snowflake, Eggplant and Charlotte's Pink
Started 11 January 2017, finished 22 January 2017

That's a pretty good month's stitching!  I'm pleased I'm off to such a good start and really enjoying my stitching.

I have joined up with Kerry at Ramblings of a Biscornu Addict blog, for her Theme-tas-stitch SAL. Each month has its own theme and we post our progress on the 21st of each month.

February's theme is...Focus Finish February.  Is there a WIP in your stash that you would love to get finished - then focus on a finish in February!

Well I had a project all picked out but throughout January I have been working on and off on Frosty Forest by Country Cottage Needleworks and have decided to stick with it in the hope of finishing it in February.  This was a monthly release back in 2014 and I eagerly signed up for the autoship but fell way behind. I completed three blocks in January so now it looks like this...

I wonder whether I will manage to finish it by the end of February?

Thanks for reading so far, happy stitching!

Gifted Gorgeousness January 2017

Hello everyone

Can you believe it's already time for the first Gifted Gorgeousness post of 2017?  The year is flying by already.

If you don't know about Gifted Gorgeousness please click here to go to Jo's blog and read all about it.  The idea is that participants show off anything and everything to do with gifting!

I have three projects that qualify to show you today.  The first was a gift I received almost a year ago from my birthday twin, Maggee. We discovered that we shared a birthday and exchanged gifts last year. I'm sorry it has taken me so long to start this Maggee but I really love it! I am going to stitch this one in the parlour on a Wednesday with the girls over at Needlecraft Haven.

Next up is a project you may already have seen on my friend Ingrid's blog here.  This was a gift from Rachel last year and when I saw Ingrid's finish at the start of the month I had to shamelessly copy it, down to the fabric choice! I hope you don't mind Ingrid but they do say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

January Fairy by Lili of the Valley
Stitched on 16 count Fairy Dust Cloud Blue aida from Sew it All
Started 3 January 2017, finished 6 January 2017

And finally here's my progress on the huge Santa's Midnight Ride which was a Christmas gift from my husband and sons. I've made a start on Santa's face and beard in the centre.

Santa's Midnight Ride by Dimensions
Stitched on 18 count dark blue aida with included threads
Started 27 December 2016

Here's a reminder of how it will look when finished...

If you hop over to Jo's blog you can see links to all the Gifted Gorgeousness stitchers this month!

See you soon

First post of 2017

Hello and a very happy new year to everyone reading this! I hope 2017 brings everything you hope and wish for.

How did it get to be January again so quickly? Here's a little January stitch for you...

A Bit of January by Lizzie*Kate
Stitched on 16 count Stormy Sea aida from Sew it All
with DMC threads
Started and finished on 28 December 2016

Julie very kindly offered me the whole set of these twelve charts and I plan to stitch them throughout 2017. I have plans to turn them into a perpetual calendar but as regular readers will know I am not very good at motivating myself to finish things so don't hold your breath!

I stitched a few Christmas ornaments in December but haven't yet finished them so I am going to save them until they are actually finished and ready to go on next year's tree before I show them here.

This year marked a first in my ten-year marriage - my husband bought me something stitching-related for Christmas!  Well it was actually from our sons but the idea and money came from hubby so I'm counting it as his first.  I must encourage him so you will be seeing a lot of this one this year...

Santa's Midnight Ride by Dimensions

Luckily I love it as there is a lot of stitching involved!

As for 2017, I haven't made any definite stitching plans. I reduced my WIP list from 11 at the start of the year to 7 by the end though one of these (Sheltered) was a new start so I actually finished 5 WIPs. These are the two I am most proud of...

Cut Thru Rocket by Bothy Threads
Started 2 January 2015, finished 5 June 2016

Cut Thru Pirate Ship by Bothy Threads
Started 6 January 2014, finished 14 July 2016

I would like to finish another two of my WIPs at least, to work on my new Santa stitch, and I am hoping to stitch some smaller things from my ever-increasing stash. I am also planning to join in with Jo's Gifted Gorgeousness SAL again this year.  This really is my favourite SAL as it means I use all the beautiful things I have been lucky to be gifted with.

I wish you all a very happy stitching year!
